Regulator - never buy 2nd hand unless you know the person
Got a good lesson learnt from buying of reg. It's better to buy a 1st hand one. Reason: never know what's the problem until you bring it to service. And by then, it's difficult to argue with the seller. That's the problem I had for this reg that I bought.
I had to pay much more than the initial price paid, and got to negotiate with the seller. Now that I'm stuck with this reg, I had no choice but to use it. I paid about 450 to 500 compared to the initial price of abt 250. That's so much more. How would you feel about it? Damn angry of course! With the amount I paid, I can almost buy a new reg and save the trouble and servicing fee etc. Worse, the seller refused to pay even 1/2 the amount I'm paying to replace these parts. He also said he's unaware of his reg problem, however even after I told him what the technician said, he still felt he should only pay 50 to 60. And if I had gotten a 2nd hand gauge, it would not have cost that much, therefore he should not pay so much. In the first place, he said he had another gauge to replace, but he could not find it, so it's not that I do not want, and I also do not have the chance of choosing a cheaper gauge. But I believe the technician would not take this chance and quote me the most expensive one.
It's supposed to be good working condition by the way as described when selling. Lucky I brought it to service, who knows may have died using it while diving. But the buyer at least got some heart and after a lot of to and fro messages, he unwillingly decided to fork out 40% of the replacement cost.
So...never buy 2nd hand reg. Just don't know what you will get. Now I'm contemplating if I do get a bc, it should be a new bc and not a 2nd one after this experience. Scared already.
